4 years of age. An average of 3.8 pits were excised and there were no reported intraoperative complications. Following trephination, 26.3% of patients were healed at 30-day's, with just over 40% showing complete healing by 6-months. The recurrence rate was 16.1% at 6-months and approximately 15% of patients required a second surgery.
Early results for trephination at our institution show a high rate of healing complications and frequent reoperation. Future research is needed to establish the role of the trephination procedure in the context of defining the best practices for treating this challenging disease.

Using cognitive load (CL) as a useful framework for understanding simulation in medical education, our aims were to (1) examine the ability of SSTEP to decrease medical students' CL during procedural skills training and (2) determine the impact of SSTEP on secondary learning.
In this prospective cohort study, twenty SSTEP participants and twenty controls were recruited. CL was assessed during a simple suturing task and a clinical vignette multitasking activity, where participants were required to suture and concurrently listen to a clinical vignette. CL was measured using the validated Subjective Rating of Mental Effort (SRME) and its impact on working memory was assessed using a knowledge test about the clinical vignette.
Participants reported lower SRME scores while suturing following SSTEP, which persisted at 3 months (p=0.002) and were significantly lower than controls (p=0.031). Participants also reported lower SRME scores during the clinical vignette multitasking activity (p=0.011), despite no improvement among controls (p=0.63). Participants significantly outperformed controls on the clinical vignette knowledge test (p=0.02).

The primary outcome was patient's HF self-care in terms of maintenance, management and confidence. The secondary outcomes were cardiac self-efficacy, psychological wellbeing in terms of perceived social support, health related quality of life and levels of anxiety and depression. The clinical outcomes included New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class and numbers of unplanned health service visits due to cardiac-related reasons.

A total of 213 participants admitted for heart failure were recruited from the inpatient wards of a tertiary public hospital in Singapore. They were randomly allocated to the control group, the experimental group A or the experimental group B. All also had significantly fewer cardiac-related unplanned hospital admissions and emergency room visits than the control group at 6-month follow-up. Results on perceived social support were not significant. The study outcomes in experimental group A and B were not significantly different at any of the post intervention follow-up.

Here, we describe the evolution of molnupiravir (EIDD-2801, MK-4482), a broad-spectrum antiviral agent originally designed for the treatment of Alphavirus infections, into a potential drug for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. When the pandemic began, molnupiravir was in pre-clinical development for the treatment of seasonal influenza. As COVID-19 spread, the timeline for the development program was moved forward significantly, and focus shifted to treatment of coronavirus infections. Real time consultation with regulatory authorities aided in making the acceleration of the program possible.Various rehabilitation exoskeletons have been designed to help people regain normal gait from stroke effects. However, the evaluation and further optimization of these exoskeletons are not convenient and usually need complicated experimental works. The present study aims to establish a simulation-based method with a proprioceptive musculoskeletal model to conveniently evaluate the efficiency of a self-developed exoskeleton for further optimization.
Three volunteers who suffer from dyskinesia due to stroke were recruited for gait experiments with and without the self-develop exoskeleton. The corresponding simulations were implemented based on the proprioceptive model, the exoskeleton model, and the input kinematic data obtained from the experiments. The joint angles, muscle activations, and metabolic costs as well as the proprioceptor feedback stimulation were extracted for comparative analysis.
Several positive effects of the exoskeleton were noted based on the simulation results when using it to aid the patients' rehabilitation during the gait training.
